Winter lives here in Kilpisjärvi and is now back from her summer slumber! Lake Tsahkal, which is situated at the edge of the wilderness region – see photo below -, is now frozen and we can already go sledding with our Siberian Husky Team! This means an early start for our Visit Kilpisjärvi Guided Winter Experiences.
If you are visiting Kilpisjärvi in November, please send us a booking request and we’ll get right back to you with the availability of snow season activities. If your visit takes place after December 1 you can also view availability and book tours in our web shop. We look forward to hearing from you!
October is giving us chilly days as well as sunny days, a permanent snow cover and slowly freezing lakes – all sure signs of the approaching winter. If you cannot wait until December and the official start of our winter season to visit Kilpisjärvi, no worries – we offer a selection of tours which will get you acquainted with the nature and the culture of our home region – and with any luck you’ll be admiring Aurora Borealis during your trip. Have a look here!
If a trip with Siberian huskies is on your bucket list this winter, you have come to the right place. These two teenagers cannot wait to meet you and take you for a Husky Sled Ride! Together with their parents, sisters and uncles they’ll be ready to start the sled tours as soon as we have enough snow and ice here in Kilpisjärvi. Check out our winter tours here!
Winter is creeping in on us – and we can’t wait for the snow season to settle in! Meanwhile, we are preparing for our Late Autumn Experiences. The Aurora season is upon us already, and if you wish to enjoy a peaceful holiday during off-season, October and November are prime times to enjoy the atmosphere and tranquility of our village.
